Interstate Waste Services (IWS) stands as the most progressive and innovative provider of solid waste and recycling services across the greater New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut markets, featuring a rail-served landfill in Ohio. Since our founding in 1998, we have grown through strategic acquisitions, many of which were family-owned businesses that remain integral to our team today. This unique evolution allows us to combine the robust resources of a large corporation with the enduring values and care of a family-run business.
Our mission is to deliver high-quality waste, recycling, and environmental services while prioritizing the safety of our employees, customers, and communities. We serve a diverse range of industrial, medical, and commercial/residential clients, adapting our solutions to meet their specific needs.
This position serves as a vital support pillar within our maintenance operations, bridging the gap between drivers and our technical teams. You will be instrumental in ensuring the reliability and safety of our heavy-duty and light-duty fleet, which includes rear load, front load, roll-off, grapple, and porta-potty trucks, as well as their chassis and bodies.
Your day will involve active collaboration with drivers to complete daily post-trip and vehicle safety inspections, identifying visible issues such as leaks, body damage, or lighting failures. You will perform essential preventative maintenance tasks, including lubrication, fluid top-ups, and tire inspections, while assisting A and B technicians with repairs on engines, transmissions, brakes, suspensions, and electrical systems. Beyond the hands-on work, you will maintain a clean and safe shop environment compliant with OSHA standards and ensure accurate documentation of parts usage and repair times.
Candidates selected for an interview will be expected to participate in corporation-sponsored training courses to stay current with technology and job requirements. We are committed to a fair and accessible process; reasonable accommodations are available to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
At IWS, we uphold a high standard of ethics and dependability. We foster a culture where safety is paramount, requiring all team members to utilize mandated Personal Protective Equipment and adhere to strict safety policies. We recognize the physical demands of the role, including the ability to work in extreme temperatures and weather conditions, and we value the stamina and dedication required to maintain our operations.
Interstate Waste Services provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment. We prohibit discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state, or local laws. This policy applies to all terms and conditions of employment, including recruiting, hiring, placement, promotion, termination, and training.
