Interstate Waste Services (IWS) stands as the most progressive and innovative provider of solid waste and recycling services across the greater New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut markets, featuring a rail-served landfill in Ohio. Since our founding in 1998, we have grown through strategic acquisitions, many of which were family-owned businesses that remain integral to our team today. This unique evolution allows us to combine the robust resources of a large corporation with the enduring values and care of a family-run business.
We are committed to delivering high-quality waste, recycling, and environmental services while prioritizing the safety of our employees, customers, and communities. Our diverse client base includes industrial, medical, and commercial/residential sectors.
This position serves as a vital support pillar for our maintenance operations, bridging the gap between drivers and our technical teams. You will be instrumental in ensuring the reliability and safety of our heavy-duty and light-duty fleet, including gasoline, diesel, and CNG systems. Your day-to-day impact involves actively assisting drivers through the critical post-trip and vehicle safety inspection processes, ensuring every vehicle is road-ready.
Working within a dynamic shop environment, you will conduct safety checks during safety lanes and preventative maintenance (PM) schedules. You will perform essential lubrication and basic repairs on a wide array of equipment, from rear and front-load trucks to roll-offs, grapples, and portable toilets. This role requires close collaboration with A & B technicians and drivers to discuss vehicle issues and implement preventative techniques that minimize future repairs. You will also be responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and OSHA-compliant work area, ensuring our shop and grounds are organized and efficient.
Candidates selected for an interview will be expected to participate in corporation-sponsored training courses as assigned. We are committed to a fair and inclusive process where reasonable accommodations are made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
Interstate Waste Services provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment. We prohibit discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state, or local laws. This policy applies to all terms and conditions of employment, including recruiting, hiring, placement, promotion, termination, layoff, recall, transfer, leaves of absence, compensation, and training.
