Interstate Waste Services (IWS) stands as the most progressive and innovative provider of solid waste and recycling services across the greater New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut markets, complemented by a rail-served landfill in Ohio. Since our founding in 1998, we have grown through strategic acquisitions, many of which were family-owned businesses that remain integral parts of our team today. This unique evolution allows us to combine the robust resources of a large corporation with the enduring values and care of a family-run business.
We are committed to delivering high-quality waste, recycling, and environmental services while prioritizing the safety of our employees, customers, and communities. Our diverse client base includes industrial, medical, and commercial/residential sectors.
This position serves as a vital support pillar within our maintenance operations, bridging the gap between drivers and our technical teams. You will be the first line of defense in vehicle safety, assisting drivers with daily post-trip and vehicle safety inspections to ensure every truck on the road is road-ready. Your role involves conducting thorough safety checks during safety lanes and preventative maintenance (PM) sessions, identifying visible issues ranging from light and mirror malfunctions to fluid leaks and body damage.
Beyond inspection, you will actively participate in the maintenance workflow by supporting technicians with basic repairs on heavy and light-duty trucks, including rear load, front load, roll-off, grapple, and porta-potty units. You will help manage fluid top-ups, tire inspections, and lubrication schedules, ensuring our fleet operates efficiently. A key part of your day involves maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work area that complies with corporate and OSHA standards, as well as documenting all parts usage and repair activities accurately.
Candidates selected for an interview will be expected to participate in corporation-sponsored training courses to stay current with technology and job requirements. The process emphasizes safety and ethical standards, ensuring all team members are aligned with our core values before joining the team.
