This position is a vital part of the dialysis care team at Avera Dialysis in Sioux Falls. Working under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse, you will perform essential tasks contributing to the maintenance dialysis for patients with end-stage renal disease. Your role ensures the comprehensive and complex needs of our patients are met through precise technical execution and vigilant patient monitoring.
In this role, you will be the eyes and hands of the treatment process. You will assemble and prepare treatment supplies, prime dialyzers, and set machine parameters according to specific prescriptions. A significant portion of your day involves monitoring equipment for safe operation, responding to alarms, and adjusting blood flow and fluid removal rates. You will also manage water room equipment, performing necessary tests and documenting results. Throughout the shift, you will observe patients closely, identifying intradialytic comorbidities and promptly notifying the RN of any adverse reactions or emergencies.
Beyond the technical duties, you will collaborate with patients, families, physicians, and ancillary departments to ensure a cohesive care experience. You are expected to uphold Avera's CARE standards (Communication, Attitude, Responsiveness, and Engagement) and maintain strict confidentiality while working effectively within a team environment.
