As a Departmental Supervisor-3, you will provide oversight and direction for the daily operations of the Data and Specimen Handling Central Receiving unit within the Bureau of Laboratories. This role is critical to ensuring the integrity of the laboratory workflow, managing the receipt and handling of clinical human, animal, and environmental specimens in strict compliance with bloodborne pathogen, bio-safety, and chemical safety requirements.
In this position, you will serve as a key liaison between the Bureau of Laboratories and external agencies, coordinating activities as required by state and federal directives. Your work directly impacts the timely distribution of specimens to testing units, the management of specimen result reporting, records retention, and disposal. You will also oversee forms management, prepare statistical reports, and facilitate archival look-ups of patient records via phone, fax, and mail. Additionally, you will participate in the development, interpretation, and evaluation of policies and procedures for the effective operation of data systems, ensuring all specimen transfers to reference laboratories and the CDC adhere to established federal shipping guidelines.
