About the Role
We are seeking a passionate Dentist to join our team and deliver professional dental care to inmates and residents. This role goes beyond clinical procedures; it involves developing and supervising the facility's entire dental program. You will be responsible for advising and instructing residents on the prevention of dental disease while coordinating specialized or emergency care with other healthcare staff.
In this position, you will lead a team by recruiting, training, and evaluating subordinate staff. Your day-to-day responsibilities include managing inventory, maintaining strict security and confidentiality of all dental records, and ensuring a safe working environment for both patients and staff. You will also serve as a key liaison with administration, external providers, and the business office, handling billing reviews and budget inputs. Effective communication is vital, as you will frequently interact with residents, visitors, and the public, often requiring tact, diplomacy, and firm judgment in high-stakes situations.
Hiring Process
Candidates must be graduates of an approved school of dentistry and hold a valid state license. While one year of experience is preferred, a strong knowledge of correctional custody methods and facility regulations is essential. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and possess good oral and written communication skills. A valid driver's license is preferred unless otherwise required by contract or statute.
