The U.S. Navy is launching a unique, limited-time pilot program to recruit Dental Hygienists as Hospital Corpsmen (HM/DH). This initiative is designed to fast-track qualified professionals into a mission-driven environment where they can provide comprehensive clinical care to Sailors, Marines, and their families. The role supports the oral health and readiness of the nation's forces, offering the opportunity to build clinical excellence in modern dental facilities ranging from state-of-the-art shore hospitals to afloat facilities aboard aircraft carriers and hospital ships.
As a Dental Hygienist in this program, you will join a team-based clinical practice focused on patient readiness rather than private practice production pressures. Your day-to-day will involve assessing, planning, and delivering preventive and therapeutic dental care under the supervision of a Navy Dental Officer. You will perform periodontal therapy, interpret radiographs, and provide critical oral health education to patients.
The role offers a dynamic mix of clinical duties and global opportunities. You may serve in modern clinics at Navy bases in the U.S. and overseas, or deploy to unique environments to support humanitarian missions and operational needs. The schedule is mission-driven, potentially including early mornings, evenings, or deployment support, ensuring you contribute directly to the health of the fleet.
To join this pilot program, candidates must complete interviews with clinical supervisors and provide a recommendation from their program director. All applicants must meet Navy medical, legal, and fitness standards, including normal color perception and vision correctable to 20/20.
Entry pathways vary based on your current status:

Assignments are available worldwide, blending shore-based clinical duties with potential sea-based deployments. Candidates must maintain all medical and professional readiness requirements, including state licensure as applicable. This is a temporary pilot program; timelines and incentives are subject to change based on Navy needs.
The U.S. Navy is an equal opportunity employer. We consider qualified applicants regardless of background, race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, or protected veteran status.
