The Security/Dean Assistant serves as a vital frontline presence at T. F. North High School, a designated high-needs educational environment. This full-time, non-exempt position is dedicated to maintaining a safe, secure, and supportive atmosphere for students, staff, and visitors. The role acts as a bridge between student conduct and academic success, ensuring that safety measures are enforced while fostering an environment where learning can thrive.
In this capacity, you will be the first point of contact for many students entering the building, managing security stations and greeting the school community. Your day involves active supervision across hallways, restrooms, the cafeteria, and bus loading zones. Beyond physical security, the role requires a high degree of interpersonal skill to de-escalate conflicts, mediate disputes, and assist students in resolving attendance or truancy issues that may hinder their progress. You will work closely with deans, teachers, counselors, and the police liaison to address behavioral challenges, conduct necessary searches, and facilitate restorative circles.
