The MDHHS Data Warehouse team is a collaborative and well-established group consisting of 2 State employees and 6 long-term contractors. We support critical programs including Child Support, Child Welfare, Eligibility, and Health Services. The team is looking for a senior-level resource who can step in immediately to contribute to our mission of ensuring reliable data availability for decision-making across the state.
As a Sr Data Warehouse Architect, you will serve as a key technical leader within the MDHHS Data Warehouse project. Your primary focus will be managing the Common Batch Framework and Common Scheduler to ensure data integrity for critical business processes. You will own the data warehouse change management infrastructure, handling code promotions and acting as a build engineer for both manual and automated processes.
In this role, you will navigate complex security models for both Linux ETL servers and Teradata environments, authorizing user access and conducting elevated access reviews to ensure compliance. You will collaborate closely with developers, leadership, stakeholders, and vendor staff to troubleshoot escalated issues, perform data architecture audits, and drive the migration of data warehouse processes to standardized frameworks. This position requires translating complex technical concepts for both technical and non-technical audiences while adhering to State of Michigan (SoM) and MDHHS/DTMB policies.
This is a contract opportunity with Smith Johnson, a great organization that believes in taking care of its contractors. As a Smith Johnson contractor, you will be eligible for a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, life, and disability insurance. Smith Johnson covers 70% of your medical and dental premiums, 100% of life and disability coverage, and offers a 3% retirement matching plan. The contract also includes monthly accrued PTO and holidays.
Candidates will be evaluated based on their ability to demonstrate deep expertise in Teradata and Linux environments, as well as their experience with data loading from multiple source systems. The selection process prioritizes those who can immediately integrate into our collaborative team environment and provide targeted technical guidance to development teams.
