The Data Center Lead serves as the strategic leader for Data Center Operations within the DLIFLC Academic Network. This position is critical for ensuring the security, high availability, and proper configuration of the organization's core infrastructure, including domain system servers, SAN, backup systems, and identity management solutions. The role exists to bridge the gap between technical execution and operational strategy, ensuring that the data center not only meets the rigorous demands of the Department of Defense and Army standards but also evolves to meet changing customer needs.
In this capacity, you will oversee the planning, installation, and maintenance of all servers and applications, with a specific focus on implementing improved configurations. The role demands a hands-on approach to troubleshooting and after-hours support, ensuring 24x7 availability while leading incident response and recovery efforts for critical events. You will also be responsible for maintaining comprehensive documentation regarding system architecture, security, and business continuity plans.
You will lead and mentor the Data Center Operations team, fostering a culture of technical excellence and operational resilience. Your work involves close coordination with IT, cybersecurity, and application development teams to ensure seamless operations across the network. The mission extends beyond daily maintenance; it includes supporting virtualization, cloud integration, and redundancy solutions to maintain a robust, scalable environment capable of withstanding complex operational challenges.
This position is based in Monterey, CA, at the Presidio of Monterey. The role requires an Active Secret Clearance and may involve travel to additional sites including Hawaii, Arizona, California, Virginia, and other CONUS/OCONUS locations as outlined in the Performance Work Statement.
