The Data Center Field Installations Technician (L2) is a developing technical role designed for professionals who have moved beyond basic entry-level tasks. This position is responsible for executing and overseeing in-rack installation activities of moderate complexity within a data center environment. Unlike entry-level roles, this position requires a higher degree of autonomy, focusing on interpreting installation designs, validating work quality, and supporting troubleshooting during deployment activities.
The primary objective is to deliver high-quality installation and validation outcomes while minimizing delays, rework, and SLA risks. You will manage standard to medium-complexity installation tasks, guide L1 technicians, and resolve issues encountered during implementation. This role is critical in ensuring installations are completed efficiently, accurately, and in alignment with technical standards and project timelines.
In this role, you will lead rack build and in-rack deployment activities based on design documentation. Your day involves interpreting rack layouts, elevation diagrams, and cabling schematics to execute and verify structured cabling, including fiber and copper. You will install and validate power connections and implement cooling solutions, ranging from DX airflow management to direct-to-chip (D2C) liquid cooling systems.
A key differentiator for this L2 position is the expectation of fiber testing experience. You will perform initial system bring-up activities, including OS installation, hardware validation, and network connectivity checks. You will also conduct post-installation quality assurance, performing audits on cables, power, and labeling, and identifying defects or escalating issues as needed. Throughout the shift, you will coordinate with project teams, engineering, and operations to ensure smooth delivery.
This is an on-site position located in Amarillo, TX. The role requires shift work to support continuous data center operations.
Candidates must submit their applications by June 5, 2026. While specific application steps are not detailed in this text, interested parties should ensure they meet the core experience requirements, particularly regarding fiber testing and data center knowledge, before applying.
