We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented entry-level Cyber Security Professional to join our team. This role is designed for individuals passionate about cyber security and digital forensics who are eager to gain hands-on experience while contributing to critical investigations under the guidance of seasoned professionals.
In this position, you will assist in investigating security incidents by collecting, preserving, and analyzing digital evidence. You will work closely with experienced cybersecurity staff, receiving mentorship on Department of Energy (DOE) policies, including those from the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) and Environmental Management (EM). You will gain exposure to key standards related to FISMA, NIST, and OMB.
Your work will involve collaborating with Information Technology subject matter experts and cyber security response teams to support the identification of findings. You will assist senior analysts in conducting forensic examinations of digital devices, including computers, mobile phones, and storage media. A key part of your day will be documenting examination processes and findings, ensuring strict adherence to chain of custody protocols. You will also help prepare detailed reports summarizing forensic analysis results for legal and other stakeholders, as well as assist in updating policies and procedures. To stay effective, you will continuously stay current with developments in digital forensics, cyber security, forensic law, mobile devices, and encryption/decryption methods.
