The Custodian plays a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and healthy learning environment across all school district facilities. This position is essential to supporting the district's vision and mission by ensuring that schools are ready for students and staff every day. The Custodian works both independently and as part of a custodial crew to perform daily cleaning, minor maintenance, and yard duties.
All district employees are expected to demonstrate regular and predictable attendance, as physical presence is a key component of reliability. Employees must engage in civility, respect, and professionalism while maintaining the knowledge and skills necessary to perform their duties effectively. The role requires the ability to work cooperatively, exhibit a positive outlook, and resolve conflicts tactfully.
Candidates with one year of increasingly responsible experience in large-scale housekeeping, custodial, or building and grounds maintenance work are encouraged to apply. All new and current employees are highly encouraged to complete the Custodial Operations Career Advancement training program through Hillsborough County Public Schools.
