About the Role
The Custodian at Hayestown Elementary School plays a vital role in ensuring a sanitary, safe, and attractive environment for students, staff, and visitors. This position is essential for maintaining the facility's operational readiness, from daily cleaning of classrooms and restrooms to preparing the campus for events and seasonal activities.
You will work as part of a team to keep the school running smoothly, handling everything from minor maintenance tasks like changing vacuum belts to more intensive summer projects such as stripping and waxing floors. Your work directly supports the educational mission by providing a hazard-free space where learning can thrive.
Working Conditions
This is a physically demanding role requiring full-time attendance from Monday through Friday, typically scheduled from 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM. Hours may be adjusted to meet the specific needs of the district. The position involves significant physical activity, including standing, walking, lifting up to 50 pounds frequently (and up to 100 pounds occasionally), and operating heavy cleaning equipment. The role also requires working at heights of up to 12 feet using ladders or scaffolding for tasks like changing light bulbs and replacing ceiling tiles.
