About the Role
As a Critical Care Float Pool nurse, you will deliver high-quality patient care across multiple critical care units, adapting quickly to diverse clinical settings and patient needs. This role exists to provide flexible, expert support where it is needed most, bridging gaps in staffing while maintaining the highest standards of safety and efficacy.
You will collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams, responding to rapid changes in patient status and utilizing evidence-based practice to guide care. Your day will involve floating between ICU, step-down, telemetry, and other acute units based on organizational needs and your clinical competency. You will be the steady hand in high-acuity situations, managing ventilators, invasive lines, and complex hemodynamic parameters while participating in codes and rapid response events.
Beyond clinical duties, you will play a vital role in patient and family education, promoting safety and understanding of diagnoses and treatments. You will also contribute to quality improvement and patient safety initiatives, adapting to different hospital environments, unit workflows, and charting systems as part of the float pool.

Key Responsibilities

- check_circleProvide comprehensive assessment and evidence-based nursing care to critically ill patients
- check_circleAdminister medications, infusions, blood products, and advanced therapies safely
- check_circleMonitor and manage ventilators, invasive lines, and complex hemodynamic parameters
- check_circleRecognize and respond rapidly to changes in patient condition during codes and rapid response events
- check_circleCollaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans
- check_circleEducate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and ongoing care needs
- check_circleDocument care accurately in the electronic medical record adhering to regulatory standards
- check_circleAdapt quickly to different hospital environments, unit workflows, and charting systems
- check_circleParticipate in quality improvement, patient safety initiatives, and infection prevention protocols
Requirements
- verifiedActive RN license in applicable state(s)
- verifiedBLS certification
- verifiedACLS certification
- verifiedMinimum 1 year recent critical care or step-down experience
Nice to Have
PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification. CCRN or other critical care certification.
