This position is part of the Civil Records department within the Missouri State Court System. The team is dedicated to maintaining the integrity and efficiency of the court's electronic filing systems and case processing workflows. As a state-funded entity, the department ensures that justice is administered with precision, relying on automated case management systems to handle a high volume of legal proceedings.
The Court Clerk is an advanced non-exempt position that serves as a critical operational hub within the circuit court. This role goes beyond standard administrative support; it requires the application of independent judgment to process complex court cases, interpret statutes, and manage financial records within an automated environment. You will work with minimal supervision to ensure the seamless flow of legal documents, from receiving case files to preparing warrants, summonses, and court orders.
A significant portion of your day involves direct interaction with the public, including pro se litigants, attorneys, law enforcement, and reporters. You will provide exceptional customer service by answering inquiries and assisting with court procedures, all while strictly adhering to the rule of not providing legal advice. In the courtroom, you will support the judge by swearing in witnesses, operating recording equipment, and maintaining accurate docket entries. The role also involves managing juror lists and payments through an automated jury management system.
