About the Role
Turner & Townsend is seeking a driven Cost Manager / Quantity Surveyor to join our Chicago data center team. In this capacity, you will support a massive new data center construction project that stands as one of the largest construction programs in Michigan's history. This initiative involves multiple large-scale facilities and significant regional development activity.
The role is based in the Chicago area but requires monthly travel to the project site in the Ann Arbor, MI metro area. You will provide full-lifecycle cost management across a major, multi-building campus program. Your work will coordinate estimating, procurement, cost control, reporting, and final account closeout on a high-value, complex construction portfolio. As a key member of the team, you will be expected to promote Turner & Townsend's purpose and values while advising clients on procurement and contracting strategies tailored to large-scale data center construction.

Key Responsibilities
- check_circleReview and refine estimates prepared by junior team members to ensure accuracy
- check_circlePresent estimates, value engineering options, and risk assessments to the client
- check_circleEstablish and maintain the cost reporting schedule and prepare cash flow forecasts
- check_circleReview contractor payment applications and evaluate change order requests
- check_circleManage and monitor invoicing processes for accuracy and compliance
- check_circleAdvise the client on procurement and contracting strategies for large-scale data center construction
- check_circleDevelop detailed construction cost estimates for structure, fit-out, MEP, and sitework
- check_circleManage vendor prequalification, evaluate bids, and prepare bid leveling recommendations
- check_circleLead vendor interviews, support contract negotiations, and oversee the appointment process
- check_circleLead the final accounting process, post-contract audits, and financial closeout activities
- check_circleUtilize bid analysis sheets, takeoff software, and cost-estimating systems for cost management
- check_circleConduct post-contract reviews and prepare lessons-learned documentation
