The Controls Engineer serves as a vital engineering support resource for electrical and control systems within our operations. This position is dedicated to managing hardware and software process control systems, equipment, and associated instrumentation. Beyond technical execution, the role encompasses training and project management responsibilities, including evaluating opportunities for improvement, designing modifications, and assessing the need for new installations to maintain and increase operational efficiency.
You will act as a key partner to Maintenance, Operations, and other personnel, assisting in the assessment of electrical equipment problems and proposing effective solutions. The role is integral to ensuring the timely repair of equipment, performing automation and control system maintenance, and designing plant machinery control systems. You will be responsible for the installation, testing, and repair of electrical circuits for manufacturing equipment, ensuring that all PLC and software control systems operate reliably.
In this capacity, you will participate in developing functional design specifications for capital projects, focusing on sensing strategies, hardware selection, robust control strategies, safety systems, and user-friendly HMIs. You will drive the continuous improvement of production control systems to enhance capacity and flexibility, while also managing the design and implementation of production equipment integration. Additionally, you will assist in training operating personnel on unit operations, process control, and safety principles, and prepare detailed documentation including diagrams, schematics, and functional specifications.
