The Component Design Engineer is responsible for the on-time delivery and quality of component design definition artifacts, including documents, models, and definitions that meet system and sub-system requirements. This role involves the integration of technical activities for design solutions, ensuring they address safety, manufacturing capability, product physical and functional robustness, unit cost, lifecycle cost, weight, maintainability, and repair.
You will deliver design solutions for components, complex assemblies, and whole engines, creating definition for appropriate stakeholder groups such as manufacturing, project customers, airframers, partners, and analysis teams. The role requires the application of Robust Design, Systems Engineering, Risk Management (xFMEA), and Design in Context to ensure "right first time" outcomes. You will also manage product configuration, assure data integrity, and execute sub-system integration processes using Systems Engineering and Robust Design tools.
