Founded in 1894, Lenox Hill Neighborhood House is a premier settlement house on the East Side of Manhattan. We provide an extensive array of integrated social, educational, health, housing, mental health, nutritional, and fitness services. Our mission significantly improves the lives of 16,000 people annually, ranging in age from 3 to 103. Our diverse client base includes older adults, unhoused and formerly unhoused individuals, children and families, persons with disabilities, and adult learners.
Reporting to the Director of Communications, the Communications Associate serves as a critical link between our Communications, Development, and Administration teams. This role exists to advance our organizational strategy by capturing the vibrant reality of our community through visual and written storytelling. You will be the voice and lens of our work, traveling to all Neighborhood House sites to document programs and events, and crafting inclusive content that resonates with the communities we serve.
The day-to-day involves a dynamic blend of creative production and strategic outreach. You will draft newsletters, press releases, and fundraising materials, while managing our presence across social platforms like Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and BlueSky. A significant portion of your time will be dedicated to producing high-quality photo and video content, maintaining our website, and enhancing our digital visibility through SEO efforts. You will also help catalog our vast archival collection and provide on-the-ground support for community and volunteer events. Occasional evening and weekend availability is required to accommodate the breadth of our programming.
To apply, please submit a cover letter along with an additional writing sample or graphic design material. We look for candidates who are proactive, detail-oriented, and possess a passionate commitment to social justice and our mission.
