Join the City of Olathe as a Communications & Marketing Specialist I and play a key role in sharing the stories, services, and initiatives that matter most to our community. We are seeking a creative and collaborative communications professional to help strengthen the City's connection with residents and employees.
This position is primarily onsite at City of Olathe offices and municipal buildings, supporting the efforts of the Quality of Life focus area. As the first level in a two-level career progression, you will engage and inform citizens and employees by providing strategic, relevant, accurate, and timely information about City initiatives, programs, projects, and services.
You will work collaboratively within the Communications & Marketing division to achieve strategic goals. Your day-to-day involves conceiving and developing stories and programming ideas, including scheduling, interviewing, writing, recording, and editing content for press releases, social media, web content, email campaigns, and public service announcements. You will partner closely with the Digital Communications Specialist to maintain a consistent brand voice across social media networks and respond to inquiries from City staff and the general public.
This role requires flexibility, including availability for varying hours, evenings, and weekends, as well as the ability to regularly monitor social media accounts. You will also assist with soliciting funding and sponsorships for assigned responsibilities and tracking communication outcomes through data analysis and reputation management tools.
