The Social Media Specialist is a creative storyteller positioned at the intersection of community, content, and digital strategy. This role is pivotal in shaping how the City connects with its residents, going beyond simple updates to build meaningful, two-way conversations. You will bring programs, services, and stories to life across digital platforms, ensuring the City's voice remains consistent, approachable, and impactful.
In this position, you will develop and execute strategic social media initiatives, craft compelling visual and written content, and analyze performance to continuously improve engagement. From capturing live moments at community events to designing graphics and managing content calendars, you will elevate the City's digital presence while supporting broader marketing, public relations, and branding efforts. Working closely with the Public Information Officer and Communications Team, you will be at the forefront of innovative outreach, strengthening relationships and keeping the community informed and inspired.
Applications are accepted until Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at 12:00 PM. Candidates who pass the initial screening will be invited to a virtual HireVue interview. Successful candidates from the virtual stage will proceed to in-person oral interviews tentatively scheduled for June 17, 2026. Select candidates may be invited to a second interview. Those who pass the oral interviews will be placed on an eligibility list valid for up to one year.
Application Requirements: In addition to the standard government jobs application resume, applicants must submit a portfolio or work samples via email to christina.hernandez@coronaca.gov by the deadline. Accepted examples include social media campaigns, graphic design samples, or writing samples. Applicants with limited professional portfolios may submit a sample social media graphic campaign concept for the City in lieu of professional work.
Post-Offer Requirements: The successful candidate must undergo a reference and background check, including Livescan, and pass a pre-employment medical examination (including drug/alcohol screening).
