Commercial Insurance Inspector

About the Role

EXL Risk Control is seeking self-directed independent contractors to serve as Risk Control Inspectors. In this role, you will work from your own home or office while servicing onsite survey and inspection assignments primarily in the Georgetown, DE area and locations within approximately 30 miles. Your mission is to evaluate commercial businesses behind the scenes to identify hazards, improve safety, and mitigate risks for our insurance company clients.

You will be responsible for scheduling on-site surveys and providing comprehensive risk control reports to insurance industry clients. These reports contain critical information necessary to underwrite commercial insurance policies and may include recommendations to control or correct potential loss-producing conditions. The businesses you survey include a diverse range of commercial operations, such as retail stores, restaurants, hotels, apartments, construction job sites, churches, and schools. While most surveys focus on assessing Property and General Liability coverage, the role also supports other commercial insurance lines including Workers Compensation, Auto/Fleet, Products Liability, Inland Marine, and Builders Risk.

Qualifications and Support

Preferred experience in commercial insurance, real estate, inspection, construction, claims, loss control, underwriting, or fire and safety is a plus, but all interested candidates are encouraged to submit their qualifications. If you lack direct experience, we can refer you to a 15-hour online certification option to qualify you for the position. Fees for this certification are negotiable depending on your experience and the unique aspects of selected jobs.

Tools and Requirements

To perform this role effectively, you must provide your own digital camera or tablet, computer, printer, high-speed internet access, reliable vehicle, measuring device (such as a laser, 100 ft. tape, or measuring wheel), and Auto and General Liability Insurance.
