This position is essential to the Town of Wallingford's commitment to maintaining a safe and functional infrastructure. As a Sewer Operations Specialist, you will be the frontline guardian of the community's sanitary sewer system, ensuring reliable wastewater collection through skilled operation, maintenance, and construction activities.
Your day-to-day work involves a dynamic mix of field operations and technical oversight. You will operate specialized equipment such as CCTV inspection units, high-velocity water jets, and rodders to inspect and clear sewer lines. The role requires hands-on construction and repair work, including building and fixing manholes and laying drainage pipe. Beyond the core sewer duties, you may also be called upon for snow removal and rights-of-way clearing. As a key member of the division, you will be expected to direct tasks, maintain accurate operational records, and adapt to new technologies and methodologies as they arise.
Candidates for this position will undergo a selection process that may include a written examination, an oral interview, and a background evaluation. The specific format of the assessment (e.g., 100% written, 50% oral/50% background) will be determined by the Town's Human Resources department.
To apply, please visit the Town of Wallingford Human Resources website at www.wallingfordct.gov/government/departments/human-resources/. Applications are also available in person at the Department of Human Resources, Room #301, Town Hall, 45 South Main Street, Wallingford, CT 06492.
