The Coder/Abstracter serves as a critical link in the healthcare data ecosystem, ensuring the accurate assignment of codes for all inpatient, outpatient, and emergency service diagnoses, procedures, and conditions found in patient medical records. This role is essential for maintaining data integrity across the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) network.
You will apply official coding guidelines from the American Medical Association, the American Hospital Association, and the American Health Information Management Association to classify data using ICD-10 and CPT editions. Your work will be conducted in strict adherence to Health Information Management Department policies and MUSC-approved procedures, supporting the organization's commitment to precision and compliance.
