About the Role
A Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS), also known as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS), serves as a critical healthcare professional dedicated to performing complex laboratory tests on patient samples. These tests are essential for aiding in the diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of a wide range of medical conditions. CLS professionals bring highly specialized training in laboratory techniques, equipment operation, and scientific principles to their work.\n In this role, you will collaborate closely with physicians, lab technicians, and other healthcare team members to ensure that diagnostic results are both accurate and delivered in a timely manner. Your work spans multiple disciplines, including hematology, microbiology, clinical chemistry, immunology, immunohematology (blood banking), and molecular diagnostics. Beyond performing tests, you will be responsible for interpreting findings to provide vital diagnostic information, communicating critical results to clinical staff, and contributing to patient care decisions.
The position also involves a commitment to continuous improvement and education. You will participate in clinical research to refine testing methods, stay current with emerging technologies, and mentor laboratory technicians and phlebotomists. Additionally, you will play a key role in maintaining a safe, sterile, and compliant laboratory environment by adhering to strict safety standards and regulations set by organizations such as CLIA, CAP, and OSHA.
