You will join the ABQ ACT (Assertive Community Treatment) Team within the Behavioral and Mental Health department. This group operates in a high-intensity clinical environment dedicated to delivering comprehensive psychosocial evaluation, diagnostic, counseling, crisis intervention, and case management services. The team serves a diverse patient population spanning neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric age groups, requiring a high degree of independent decision-making and program administration.
This position is designed for a licensed professional to lead, train, and supervise lower-level counselors, social workers, students, and interns. You will provide direct counseling, therapy, and psychotherapy to clients and families, preparing treatment and discharge plans while ensuring adherence to hospital and departmental policies. The role involves consulting with other therapists and legal agencies, arranging therapeutic interventions for individuals with serious emotional or behavioral disturbances, and managing civil commitment documentation. A key component of the day-to-day work includes providing side-by-side support and coaching to clients in their home environments for Activities of Daily Living, such as personal hygiene, food preparation, and money management. You will also participate in research projects, propose policy changes, and maintain a proactive approach to patient safety by identifying risks and encouraging patient participation in their own care.
