About the Role
As a School Bus Driver, you will be the guardian of student safety on the road. This role goes beyond simply operating a vehicle; it involves maintaining order and discipline within the van, enforcing program rules regarding student conduct, and reporting any disciplinary issues to the Transportation Coordinator. You will be responsible for the daily care of the assigned vehicle, including cleaning, fueling, and performing safety inspections to ensure optimal operating conditions.
Your day will also include conducting safety drills as required by law, completing necessary reports on mileage and passenger counts, and staying current with Motor Vehicle and Education Codes through regular training programs. You will serve as a key point of contact for safety and first aid updates, attending various meetings to support the district's transportation goals.
Hiring Process
Candidates must possess a valid 7D license and have at least one year of experience working as a driver in an EEC-licensed center. All applicants are required to pass a CORI/SORI background check via fingerprinting. Base wages start at $19 per hour, depending on experience.
Location & Culture
This is a part-time, in-person role located in Holyoke and Springfield, MA. Relocation to this area is required before starting work. We are looking for individuals who are committed to creating a safe and supportive environment for our students.
