About the Role

The Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) at Texas A&M International University is a senior executive partner to the Vice President for Finance and Administration. This role is pivotal in shaping and executing a people and culture strategy that drives the university's success. The CHRO leads the creation and implementation of a strategic vision that emphasizes high-level customer service, operational effectiveness, and efficiency.

As the leader of the Human Resources department, you will foster a high-performance, people-first workplace designed to attract, develop, and retain exceptional talent. Your work will ensure that human capital strategies are tightly aligned with the university's long-term mission, vision, and goals. You will serve as the primary HR liaison to the Texas A&M University System administration, governance groups, and external agencies, while building strong partnerships with internal stakeholders to ensure open communication and collaboration.

Day in the Life

In this role, you will champion a culture of engagement, belonging, trust, and collaboration that strengthens organizational cohesion. Your day-to-day involves partnering with executive leadership to align workforce planning and organizational design with strategic objectives. You will oversee the full employee lifecycle, from recruitment and onboarding to retention and performance management, ensuring a strong pipeline of highly qualified employees.

You will drive a culture of continuous learning and professional growth, ensuring training and development align with both individual aspirations and business needs. Additionally, you will lead process improvement initiatives to enhance HR service delivery and use analytics to provide data-driven insights into workforce trends. As the university's HR leader, you will also represent the organization in key HR networks and professional forums, ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws as well as Texas A&M System policies.

Hiring Process

Applicants must submit a complete application package, as the system allows only one opportunity to enter information and upload documents. Once submitted, changes cannot be made. The required materials include:

  • Resume
  • Cover Letter
  • 3–5 professional references with full contact information
  • Unofficial transcripts

All positions are security-sensitive. Employment is contingent upon the institution's verification of credentials and the completion of a criminal history check.

Our Culture & Commitment
