About the Team
The Progressive Cardiac Care Unit (PCCU) at Norman Regional Health System provides specialized, high-acuity care to patients with cardiac conditions, both pre- and post-procedure. Our team cares for patients undergoing a wide range of cardiac procedures, including coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), cardiac catheterization, pacemaker and Micra-pacemaker insertions, and cardiac ablation. We also support patients hospitalized with a variety of cardiac diagnoses, ensuring comprehensive care through evidence-based practice and professional judgment.
About the Role
As a Registered Nurse in the PCCU, you will systematically assess and reassess the healthcare needs of individuals across specific age groups and patient conditions, involving patients, families, and other healthcare providers as appropriate. You will analyze these assessments to determine nursing diagnoses and expected outcomes, then implement and coordinate care through targeted interventions to achieve goals. Your role involves evaluating patient outcomes using critical thinking to recognize problems and reach sound conclusions. Additionally, you will serve as a department leader alongside and in the absence of the Nurse Manager and will oversee and promote bedside handoffs during shift changes to ensure seamless patient care.
Hiring Process
Candidates with less than one year of experience are required to complete Norman Regional's Nurse Residency Program. Successful applicants will undergo orientation to complete Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) training prior to providing patient care. These certifications must be maintained throughout the duration of employment.
