About the Role
As a Pharmacy Technician at Walgreens, you play a vital role in bridging the gap between patients and their healthcare needs. This position is designed to ensure a distinctive and delightful customer experience by engaging with patients, resolving issues, and modeling best practices in customer service. You will be the face of the pharmacy, greeting customers, offering assistance with products and services, and building strong relationships with our most valuable patients.
A Day in the Life
Working under the supervision of the pharmacist, you will assist in the daily practice of pharmacy in strict accordance with state, federal, and company policies. Your day involves a blend of clinical support and operational excellence:
- Patient Care & Service: You will greet patients, answer questions, and assist them in locating over-the-counter products. You may also help administer clinical services, such as collecting and labeling blood or urine samples, and support the coordination of healthcare clinics.
- Pharmacy Operations: You will utilize pharmacy systems to accurately enter patient and drug information, fill prescriptions by retrieving and counting medications, and verify medicine for correct dosage and interactions. You will also manage inventory by ordering, unpacking, and storing pharmaceutical shipments, while handling cash registers and processing third-party prescription claims.
- Collaboration & Growth: You will coach pharmacy technicians and cashiers to drive efficiency, maintain a clean and orderly pharmacy environment, and support the Pharmacy Manager in analyzing performance data. Additionally, you will help build relationships with the local medical community through outreach to physicians, nursing homes, and health groups.
