This position serves as a Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) working under physician direction and the supervision of the Respiratory Care Clinical Team Manager. The role is critical to maintaining quality patient care, particularly during night shifts, and requires adherence to institutional policies and professional standards. The CRT is expected to promote a healthy work environment and project a positive image for the UAMS Medical Center.
Day-to-day responsibilities include performing routine respiratory care procedures such as mechanical ventilator setup and management, arterial blood gases, chest physiotherapy, and patient education. The role also involves assisting in codes and rapid responses, documenting treatments in the e-chart system, and managing the logistics of medical equipment and supplies. Success in this role requires the ability to don and perform tasks in personal protective equipment, including N95 masks and Powered Air Purifying Respirators (PAPR), while navigating a medical facility environment with moderate noise levels and various biological and chemical hazards.
