As a Pharmacy Technician at Walgreens, you play a vital role in supporting the pharmacist and ensuring the pharmacy department runs smoothly. You will be the face of our pharmacy, delivering a distinctive and delightful customer experience by engaging with patients, resolving issues, and building strong relationships with our most valuable customers. Your work directly impacts patient care by assisting in the accurate and efficient processing of prescriptions while maintaining the highest standards of safety and compliance.
Your day involves a blend of clinical support and operational excellence. Under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, you will utilize pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information, enter data accurately, and assist in filling prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring medications. You will also handle cash registers, process third-party claims, and manage inventory activities such as ordering and storing pharmaceuticals.
Beyond technical duties, you are responsible for modeling Walgreens service traits, including greeting customers proactively and ensuring they are satisfied with their experience. You may assist with clinical services like collecting blood or urine samples and support the pharmacy team in maintaining a clean, orderly, and well-stocked environment. Additionally, you will help foster relationships with the local medical community through outreach to physicians and healthcare providers.
We are committed to your growth. You will earn and maintain PTCB certification through our designated training program or state-required certification. As you progress, you will attend training sessions, complete required PPLs, and acquire continuing education credits to stay current with the latest healthcare and pharmacy developments. PTCB certification is a condition for promotion to Senior Technician.
To join our team, you must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico) and be willing to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends. We encourage applicants with prior retail experience, math skills, and computer proficiency to apply.
Walgreens is an Equal Opportunity Employer and considers qualified applicants regardless of background, including disability and veterans. We also consider employment of qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records. We strive to maintain respectful relationships with all coworkers and adhere strictly to the Walgreens Co. Pharmacy Code of Conduct and Good Faith Dispensing policies.
