Join a not-for-profit organization with over 100 years of history providing housing and services to seniors. We are committed to delivering quality care and service within a Christian environment, ensuring that every resident receives compassionate, resident-centered support.
As a Medication Assistant at our Canistota Center, you will serve as a vital caregiver, bridging the gap between medical oversight and daily living assistance. Working under the supervision of a charge nurse, your primary mission is to support the physical and psychological well-being of our residents through age-appropriate care.
Your day will be defined by meaningful interactions and essential support. You will assist residents with daily living activities such as bathing, grooming, and dressing, while also providing psycho-social support to foster a sense of community. A significant part of your role involves administering prescribed medications within your scope of practice, documenting outcomes, and communicating any changes in a resident's condition to the nursing team. Beyond clinical duties, you will help create positive dining experiences, assist with meals and snacks, and encourage participation in wellness and recreational programs. You will also maintain clean and operational living areas and support departmental committees as needed.
To be eligible for this position, candidates must hold both Certified Medication Assistant (CMA) and Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certifications. Specific state requirements apply based on your location (Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota, or South Dakota), including completion of state-approved courses and registration with the respective State Board of Nursing or Nursing Assistant Registry.
