About the Role
As a Driver at WM, you will operate heavy-duty trucks equipped with front, side, or rear-end load lift attachments, depending on your specific line of business and vehicle type. Your mission is to transport waste, recyclable, or disposal materials to appropriate facilities once trucks reach legal load capacity.
The role varies by route type:
- Commercial Drivers provide pick-up services for containers filled with waste or recyclables, which may weigh over 1,000 pounds. This requires maneuvering wheeled containers to pick-up stages and navigating high-traffic roadways, driveways, and alleyways.
- Residential Drivers collect household waste or recyclables, safely maneuvering vehicles in residential environments while handling congested streets and tight spaces.
- Roll-off Drivers prepare, load, and transport large mobile open-top and compactor containers. This role involves navigating industrial routes, tight overhead environments, and driveways, requiring highly skilled backing maneuvers.
Regardless of the route, you will work closely with Operations Managers to improve route efficiencies, identify best practices, and ensure customer satisfaction by leaving locations clean and free of debris.
