This entry-level driver training role is designed for individuals eager to learn and gain experience driving tractor-trailers or straight trucks. You will operate on local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight routes to deliver and unload various food and food-related products. This position is essential to supporting America's food distribution system, offering significant growth opportunities within a safe and inclusive working environment.
As a Driver Trainee, you will ride with and assist a driver trainer, following all instructions to execute deliveries safely. You will interact professionally with customers, vendors, and co-workers, ensuring all services are executed in accordance with preferred work methods and customer service practices. The role involves performing pre- and post-trip safety checks, inspecting vehicles for compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, and managing freight documentation. You will also be responsible for unloading products, verifying deliveries, handling returns, and maintaining the cleanliness of the tractor and trailer.
Candidates must successfully complete the PFG Entry Level Driver Trainee or Dock to Driver Training Program. The selection process includes a post-offer drug test and a road test to ensure safety and competency. All training documentation must be completed and maintained per requirements.
