This role is designed to launch your professional driving career through paid, hands-on training alongside experienced driver trainers. You will learn safe, compliant foodservice delivery while mastering vehicle inspections, DOT regulations, ELD use, and customer-focused route delivery. Your Journey to Becoming a Professional Driver
As a trainee, you will work directly with experienced mentors to learn the safe operation of CDL-A equipment. Your day will involve completing company and DOT-required classroom and behind-the-wheel instruction, performing pre-trip and post-trip inspections, and maintaining accurate logs. You will assist with the safe loading, unloading, and delivery of product to customer locations, ensuring you follow all safety, DOT, and company policies to protect yourself, the public, and the freight.
Beyond the mechanics of driving, you will learn route structures, schedules, and procedures to transition into a solo driver role. You will be expected to care for your equipment, report maintenance issues, and keep the tractor and trailer clean. At every stop, you will provide professional, courteous service that represents McLane's high standards. This role is ideal for those looking to master defensive driving, route planning, and time management in a supportive environment.
Hiring Process
To join our team, candidates must possess a valid CDL-A permit or the ability to obtain one, maintain a clean driving record meeting DOT standards, and pass a DOT physical and drug screen. All applicants must also meet McLane's safety and background standards.
