ABF Freight, an ArcBest company, stands as one of the nation's largest and most trusted less-than-truckload (LTL) carriers. With over a century of experience and 240 service centers spanning North America, we are driven by an unwavering commitment to quality, safety, and customer service. We provide best-in-class transportation solutions for companies of all sizes and industries across the continent.
This position serves as a vital link in our logistics network, responsible for the pickup and delivery of cargo to and from various destinations, typically within proximity of our consolidation and distribution centers. You will operate as a key member of our team, utilizing the same techniques, technology, and procedures as a dock worker to load and unload trailers efficiently.
In this role, you will exercise independent judgment to build and tear down trailers, ensuring the effective and efficient use of time, resources, and energy while strictly complying with all weight distribution laws. Your day-to-day activities will range from check-in procedures and tractor/trailer inspections to setting up tractors and executing cargo pickups and deliveries. You will also be responsible for completing routine paperwork and properly logging loading sheets. While the core duties remain consistent, actual tasks and schedules may vary depending on your specific terminal location.
Candidates must possess a Class-A CDL with doubles/triples, tanker, and hazardous materials endorsements, along with at least one year of verifiable tractor/trailer experience. Those with less than a year of experience may be eligible for training. The selection process includes a review of your driving record (MVR) and previous employment history to ensure a safe and stable work record. All finalists must successfully pass a DOT pre-employment drug screen and meet DOT medical requirements.
As a Teamster Union employee, you join a community that values your well-being and financial security. Our compensation package includes wages at the Teamster Union Scale, which are greater than most other carriers, with overtime pay available for hourly employees working more than 8 hours a day. We offer comprehensive health and welfare benefits with no employee-paid premiums, along with life insurance through a multi-employer sponsored fund.
Our culture supports work-life balance through generous leave policies, including 7 days of sick leave granted each January 1st. Combined with personal days and paid holidays, employees may qualify for up to 3 weeks of paid time off without using vacation. Additionally, we provide a pension plan at no expense to the employee, opportunities to contribute to the Teamsters National 401(k), and participation in a profit-sharing program.
ABF Freight is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusion. We consider qualified applicants regardless of background, race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, or veteran status.
