This position serves as a vital link in the logistics chain, responsible for the pickup and delivery of cargo to and from various destinations, typically within proximity of the consolidation or distribution center. The role involves the loading and unloading of trailers using the same techniques, technology, and procedures as a dock worker. Employees must exercise independent judgment to build and tear down trailers effectively, ensuring compliance with all weight distribution laws while utilizing time, resources, and energy efficiently.
Day-to-day duties extend beyond cargo handling to include check-in procedures, tractor and trailer inspections, tractor setup, and the operation of forklifts as needed. The role requires completing routine paperwork effectively and properly logging loading sheets. Actual duties and schedules may vary depending on the specific terminal location, with shifts potentially including days, nights, and weekends.
Candidates must possess a Class-A CDL with doubles/triples, tanker, and hazardous materials endorsements. A minimum of 21 years of age and a good stable work record are required. Applicants must have a safe driving record as verified by their Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) and previous employment history. Additionally, candidates must be able to pass a DOT pre-employment drug screen and meet all DOT medical requirements. Those with less than one year of verifiable tractor/trailer experience may be eligible for training.

In accordance with the Washington State Labor Code, the starting pay for this position is $28.56 per hour. This is an hourly position paid weekly, with wages set at the Teamster Union Scale, which exceeds most other carriers. Hourly employees also receive overtime pay after 8 hours per day.
