ABF Freight, an ArcBest company, stands as one of the nation's largest and most trusted less-than-truckload (LTL) carriers. With over a century of experience and 240 service centers spanning North America, we are driven by an unwavering commitment to quality, safety, and customer service. We offer best-in-class transportation solutions for companies of all sizes and industries, ensuring excellence in every mile we travel.
This position is vital to the efficient movement of goods within our network. You will be responsible for the pickup and delivery of cargo to and from various destinations, typically located in proximity to our consolidation and distribution centers. Your day-to-day operations involve the loading and unloading of trailers using the same techniques, technology, and procedures as a dock worker.
You will exercise independent judgment to build and tear down trailers effectively, ensuring compliance with all weight distribution laws while managing time, resources, and physical demands efficiently. The role requires versatility, as duties may range from check-in procedures and tractor/trailer inspections to operating a forklift and completing routine paperwork and loading logs. Actual duties and schedules may vary depending on the specific terminal location.
Candidates must possess a Class-A CDL with doubles/triples, tanker, and hazardous materials endorsements, along with at least one year of verifiable tractor/trailer experience (training may be available for those with less experience). Applicants must be at least 21 years old, maintain a good stable work record, and have a safe driving record as verified by MVR and previous employment. All candidates are required to pass a DOT pre-employment drug screen and meet DOT medical requirements.
We are proud to be a Teamster Union company, offering wages that exceed most other carriers. Our hourly employees receive overtime pay after 8 hours per day. As a union employee, you receive health and welfare benefits with no employee-paid premiums, along with life insurance through our multi-employer sponsored fund.
Our culture values work-life balance and long-term security. Each employee receives 7 days of sick leave annually on January 1st. Combined with personal days and paid holidays, you may qualify for up to 3 weeks of paid time off without using vacation. We also provide a pension plan at no expense to the employee, opportunities to contribute to the Teamsters National 401(k), and participation in a profit-sharing program.
ABF Freight is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusion. We consider qualified applicants regardless of background, race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, or veteran status.
