COMCARE is a division of Sedgwick County dedicated to providing comprehensive behavioral health services. As part of the Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC), our Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) team is committed to supporting adults with severe and persistent mental illness. Our mission is to help individuals remain in the least restrictive environment possible, fostering independence and recovery through a collaborative, goal-directed approach.
This position serves as a vital link in the recovery journey, offering medically necessary peer support services. You will be a member of the ACT team, utilizing your lived experience to model successful behaviors and strategies for consumers. The role focuses on helping patients regain the ability to make independent choices and take a proactive role in their treatment plans.
Your day will involve facilitating self-contained, goal-directed peer support groups with a strong recovery focus. Beyond group work, you will provide essential transportation in your personal vehicle to support patient attendance at medical appointments and therapeutic activities, including access to community resources, employment, and education. You will also document progress notes, manage records, and ensure all activities meet medical necessity and CCBHC guidelines.

Applicants must be able to fulfill KDADS requirements to become a Certified Peer Support Specialist and complete all required orientations provided by Sedgwick County and COMCARE.
