As a Cardiac Sonographer 1 within the Heart Station, you will serve as a vital member of the healthcare team at UTMC. Your primary mission is to perform non-invasive cardiac diagnostic testing on adolescent and adult patients. This includes conducting M-mode, 2D, and 3D echocardiograms, cardiac Doppler, and Colorflow imaging to measure ejection fractions. You will also assist physicians with Transesophageal Echocardiograms and collaborate with Stress Laboratory personnel to perform Stress Exercise Echocardiograms.
Beyond technical execution, you are responsible for maintaining the department's digital computer systems and ensuring the highest standards of patient safety and care quality. Your work directly impacts the diagnostic accuracy and well-being of patients, requiring a balance of technical precision and compassionate service.
At UTMC, patient safety is the foundation of our daily operations. You will be expected to adhere strictly to UTMC Service Values, including iCare standards, and follow all hospital policies regarding performance improvement and quality of care. This includes rigorous adherence to National Patient Safety Goals (NPSG), such as assessing fall risks using the Morse Fall Scale and practicing effective hand hygiene between patients.
We foster a culture where safety is a shared responsibility. You will be trained to recognize and report equipment dysfunction immediately, ensuring alternate processes are in place to prevent adverse outcomes. Furthermore, you will participate in standardized handoff communication protocols and team-based efforts to manage exposure risks, ensuring a safe environment for both staff and patients.
