The Department of Natural Sciences at Texas A&M University-San Antonio is dedicated to advancing scientific knowledge and education. As a vital team member, the Business Coordinator ensures the smooth, efficient, and compliant operation of the department's administrative and business functions. This role serves as a primary point of contact for departmental operations, integrating core administrative tasks with fiscal, personnel, and operational oversight to support the department chair, faculty, and staff.
This position provides comprehensive support by managing complex, sensitive, and concurrent priorities. You will act as a liaison with financial, payroll, and human resources offices to facilitate personnel actions, onboarding, and compliance. The role involves coordinating purchasing and inventory, assisting with contract and grant administration, and maintaining business and personnel records. Additionally, you will provide direct administrative support to departmental and programmatic activities, including seminars and special College of Arts & Sciences events. Working collaboratively within the College, you will interpret and apply university policies to ensure efficient operations while serving as a front-facing resource for visitors and inquiries.

Five (5) years administrative or office management experience, preferably in an academic or educational setting. Experience with hiring processes, including recruiting and onboarding. Experience with budgeting and financial systems. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with university administrative software (e.g., Concur/Emburse, Jira, Canopy).
