This is a full-time, career Law Enforcement Officer (LEO) position designed for individuals with prior military police or state/local law enforcement experience. Your prior experience may qualify you for a higher-graded opportunity (GL-9 or GS-11), allowing you to make an immediate impact with a higher starting level. You will be part of a dynamic environment where your day-to-day work involves detecting and questioning individuals suspected of violating immigration and customs laws, interpreting physical evidence of illegal entry, and performing diverse patrols using vehicles, horses, vessels, and off-road assets. Whether conducting covert surveillance, farm checks, or traffic checks, you will exercise sound judgment and utilize complex technology to protect our borders.

Upon hiring, you will attend the U.S. Border Patrol Academy in Artesia, New Mexico, for approximately six months of intensive instruction. Training covers immigration and nationality laws, law enforcement tactics, driver training, physical techniques, firearms proficiency, and USBP-specific operations. While proficiency in Spanish is required, agents are provided training at the Academy to achieve the necessary language skills to perform their duties effectively.
Duty assignments are determined at the time of offer based on operational needs and may include prioritized locations along the Southwest Border. Relocation may be required, and candidates should be prepared for a career that offers stability and the chance to work in mission-critical sectors ranging from the Pacific Northwest to the Southern Border.
