This is a full-time, career Law Enforcement Officer (LEO) position designed for individuals with prior military police or state/local law enforcement experience. Your prior experience may qualify you for higher-graded opportunities (GL-9 or GS-11), allowing you to make an immediate impact. As a Border Patrol Agent, you will be a valuable member of the federal LEO profession, performing duties that range from detecting and questioning individuals suspected of violating immigration laws to patrolling international boundaries and coastal waterways using a variety of assets including vehicles, horses, vessels, and off-road equipment.
Your daily mission involves maintaining surveillance from covert positions, interpreting tracks and physical evidence of illegal entry, and conducting checks on farms, buildings, and traffic. You will utilize intelligence information to track criminal activity and threats, exercise sound judgment in the use of firearms, and make prompt decisions in complex situations. The role requires adaptability, as duty assignments are determined at the time of offer based on operational needs, which may include prioritized locations along the Southwest Border. Relocation may be required to meet these mission-critical needs.

This training covers immigration and nationality laws, law enforcement tactics, driver training, physical techniques, firearms proficiency, and Spanish language skills required for the role.
