This is a full-time, career Law Enforcement Officer (LEO) position designed for individuals passionate about protecting their community and keeping the nation safe. Whether your background is in military police units or state and local law enforcement, you will work alongside highly trained professionals to perform critical duties such as detecting and questioning individuals suspected of violating immigration laws, maintaining surveillance in covert positions, and patrolling international boundaries and coastal waterways using a variety of government assets.
The role is dynamic and demanding, requiring the ability to interpret tracks and physical evidence, perform physical searches, and make sound judgments in high-pressure situations. Agents are expected to be proficient in firearms, investigative reporting, and the use of complex surveillance technology. Fluency in Spanish is a requirement, though training is provided at the Academy to ensure proficiency.
Candidates selected for this position will be detailed to the U.S. Border Patrol Academy in Artesia, New Mexico, for approximately six months of intensive instruction covering immigration laws, law enforcement tactics, driver training, physical techniques, and firearms.
