About the Role

The College of the Canyons is seeking Adjunct Biology Instructors to join our dynamic faculty. This position is part of a continuous recruitment pool open on a fiscal year basis, allowing for assignments at the Valencia or Canyon Country campuses, or other college teaching locations as needed.

As an adjunct faculty member, you will have the opportunity to assist a diverse group of students in achieving their educational goals across transfer, general education, vocational, and occupational programs. The role offers flexible hours and the chance to contribute to a collaborative college community while shaping the next generation of biologists and scientists.

Hiring and Application Process

Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis for immediate and future eligibility into the Biological Sciences Applicant Pool. Positions remain open until filled, and the department may review materials at any time based on enrollment needs.

To be considered, all required documents must be received. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed. Hiring committees evaluate complete, qualified application packets; possession of minimum qualifications does not guarantee an interview. Selected candidates may be required to participate in a teaching demonstration.

Required Materials

  • District ACADEMIC Application.
  • Current detailed resume summarizing education and experience.
  • Two (2) letters of professional reference (dated within the last five years with original signatures). A formal, signed teaching evaluation may substitute for one letter.
  • Complete college transcripts verifying educational degrees and/or coursework. Unofficial copies are accepted for application purposes, but official transcripts are required at the time of hiring.

Important Notes

  • Equivalencies: If you are qualifying under an equivalency, you must meet the established minimum qualifications or department equivalencies in place at the time of hire.
  • Verification: Employment is subject to verification of all information, background fingerprint clearance, tuberculosis screening, and proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
  • Retention: Complete applications are kept on file for two (2) years. Qualified applicants who successfully complete the selection process will be placed in the pool and may be eligible for adjunct employment within the next 36 months.
