Solano Community College serves one of the most ethnically and racially diverse counties in California, located on the ancestral lands of the Patwin people. Our district includes a main campus in Fairfield, centers in Vallejo and Vacaville, and outreach sites at Travis Air Force Base and correctional facilities. We are committed to honoring and empowering all students through culturally responsive, strength-based teaching that eliminates barriers to access, success, and completion.
The Biology Department offers a robust program for majors, pre-allied health students, and non-majors. We are home to state-of-the-art science facilities, including a new science building in Fairfield and the Biomanufacturing Bachelor of Science Degree in Vacaville. Our faculty play a central role in preparing students for health science professions and biotechnology careers.
We are seeking highly qualified adjunct instructors to teach a variety of biology courses face-to-face across our three main locations. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in microbiology and general biology, utilizing active learning strategies and technology to facilitate effective student learning. This role is designed for educators who care deeply about pedagogy, the future of our community, and the diverse backgrounds of our student body.
In this position, you will teach in our modern laboratories, prepare and grade assignments, and assess student learning outcomes. While the role is primarily instructional, we encourage participation in department meetings and office hours to foster a supportive academic environment. You will be expected to enforce safety standards and maintain current knowledge in your field while demonstrating a commitment to equity and anti-racist education.
To be considered, all applications and supporting materials must be received by the deadline. Please submit legible copies of college transcripts for all degrees; if the degree award date is not posted on the transcript, include a copy of the diploma. For foreign degrees, certification of equivalency to U.S. standards is recommended.
Meeting minimum qualifications does not guarantee an interview. Finalists will be contacted for oral interviews, which will include a teaching demonstration. Please note that travel costs related to the interview are the responsibility of the candidate. Official notification of selection will be sent only after the process is complete.
Solano Community College is a single college district serving a student population that includes Asian American, Black/African American, Filipino/a/x, Hispanic/Latino/a/x, Pacific Islander, and White Non-Hispanic communities. We are cultivating a supportive and inclusive environment for all faculty, staff, and students. We invite candidates who embrace our community, possess an unwavering commitment to equity, and are dedicated to providing equitable and anti-racist education.
