The Marine Resources Commission is dedicated to the science-based management of Virginia's marine resources. Our mission relies on robust data collection and analysis to inform regulatory responsibilities and ensure the sustainability of the Commonwealth's fisheries.
As the Biological Sampling Program Manager, you will lead the design, implementation, and operation of critical fisheries biological sampling and data-collection programs. This role serves as the bridge between field operations and high-level management decisions, overseeing statewide biological and effort data collection systems and the acoustic telemetry array program.
In this position, you will manage a diverse team of in-office and remote staff, providing mentorship and operational oversight to ensure rigorous quality assurance for all datasets. Your work directly informs fishery management actions by analyzing commercial and recreational fisheries data and preparing reports on life history metrics and species evaluations. You will also serve as a key liaison with commercial harvesters, seafood buyers, and recreational fishing sites to maintain essential access for biological sampling.
Applications must be submitted via the State application portal. Upon submission, you will receive a confirmation of receipt. You can track the status of your application by referring to "Your Application" in your account.
