The Senior Environmental Analyst serves as a pivotal technical and regulatory expert within the NOAA Fisheries Alaska Region. This position is dedicated to implementing responsibilities under the Endangered Species Act (ESA), specifically leading complex, high-visibility Section 7 consultations. The role is mission-critical, focusing on the conservation of threatened and endangered species and their designated critical habitats in Alaska's unique coastal and marine ecosystems.
In this capacity, you will independently execute highly specialized work while providing leadership for analytical efforts and mentoring junior staff. The role demands a balance of scientific rigor, regulatory compliance, and clear communication across federal agencies and diverse stakeholders. You will act as a subject matter expert, ensuring the quality control and defensibility of consultation documents while managing multiple high-priority projects in a fast-paced environment.
This is a remote position, preferably located in Alaska. Please note that this role is subject to contract award and US citizenship is preferred. The position requires a deep understanding of Alaska's specific environmental challenges, including impacts from oil and gas exploration, dredging, military operations, and other coastal activities.
As a federal agency, NOAA Fisheries is committed to a diverse workforce. We consider qualified applicants regardless of background, race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, or genetic information.
